Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 27 – “Light & Dark”

spring light glows
reflected off the dew drops
dark ground unveiled
spring dawn light slips past
the failing dark of night time
dawn chorus springs bling
light out of darkness
mid spring now begs the sun
inspiring life
dark moonlit night
day warmth prevails in darkness
hedgehogs snort for food

my heart succumbs
the dark can not your gentle touch hide
desire silent
light as the breath you breathe
flaming candles guide
dawn light shines through slits
the magic of spring sun
the dark of night revolts
storm black clouds conceal
dawn darkened blinded

Early dawn, bright sunlit garden, smiles for miles. A cloudless sky, a cock blackbird singing good morning, twittering house sparrows tweet a warning as my cat springs a missed surprise. Koi carp topping, saying, “Hey, look were hungry, feed us kind sir”. Breakfast served, carp sated, next my own to grill. Thought I should I tell them smoked kippers, no, I am not that kind of guy. As I made my way back inside the light turned to dark, a storm, forecasted, now turned to hail. Breakfast cooked and eaten here ends my fishy tale.

light spring day turned
dark clouds obscured sunshine
blackbird fell silent
