Moments With a Camera in My Back Garden

Dedicated to Colleen Chesebro

The Ichneumon wasp on the left is a female, a species I have not encountered before, and is probably parasitic, the wasp on the right is a common wasp. Note, going back to the Ichneumon, the appendage at its rear is not a sting, it is an ovipositor, (egg laying tube). The plant it is on is wild parsnip, the common on ivy.

  1. Wow! Wonderful photos of the visitors in your garden. That wasp with egg depositor tube is fabulous. Isn’t it interesting how nature finds a way for creatures to survive? Great photography!
