A walk down a country lane, wonders of nature on both sides
Sun shining, hedgerows in full bloom, belies the life it hides
At ground level, around its ancient roots, rabbits burrow
Badgers dig and build their sets, in random puddles tadpoles huddle
Rosebay willow herb swaying, teasing nectar seeking honey bees
Look carefully, turn a leaf, many secrets hidden under leaves.
Early dusk, walk coming to its end, but hark a nightingale singing
Church bells calling folk to evening song, loudly ringing
The day done, the sun waves a red good by, bats fill the darkening sky
Owls twit, to-wooing, and I shout, not to loudly, I sigh, goodbye
