Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Tuesday Challenge No. 54: GHOST & HAUNT – A TRIBUTE TO SQUIDGY

HAIKU

fading in and out
like nature… as seasons’ change
a spirit stranded

~

If you don’t like ghosts:

fading in and out
like nature… as seasons’ change
a spirit stranded

~

a spirit stranded
like nature… as seasons’ change
fading in and out

~~~~~
my old secret haunt…
a ghost of its old self… dead…
reclaimed by nature
~
reclaimed by nature
a ghost of its old self… dead…
my old secret haunt…
~~~~~~~~~~~

SENRYU

at my feet… hiding
has me thinking … lost again
so fooled… embarrassed

TANKA

dead… not forgotten
squidgy… you haunt  my garden
your ghost… my partner
at my side on lonely walks
as back then… your still my eyes

~~

my best friend…  squidgy
now my avatar…  guiding
as he always did… my life
his ghost… my haunts still finding
he left me… but he’s not lost

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CINQUAIN
SQUIDGY
squidgy
friendly ghosty
haunting… finding… warning…
meeting places… woodland… gardens…
missing
HAIBUN
SQUIDGY
I don’t want to remember when he died. In my head, he has survived, allowed to haunt my memories. Like catch, I’d throw a ball he’d toss it back,  for many minutes we’d play like that. The fetch, that’s a different tale, o he’d go get it, like a lightning bolt. However, it was his choice how the game proceeded, should he drop the ball at my feet, then he was up for another retrieve,  but if he tossed it to my hand it was catch, twas his demand. I think deep in my subconsciousness a memory his ghost is telling me it was on this day, this date, he left many years ago
nature beckons… come
walks aplenty… always fun
wildlife…  memories
    1. Many thanks Reena! As for the ‘it’, read on:
      noun spir·it \ ˈspir-ət \
      Definition of spirit
      1: Mood; I’m in good spirits today.
      2: A being (as a ghost) whose existence cannot be explained.
      3: A lively or brisk quality. They sang with spirit.
      4: A force within a human being thought to give the body life, energy, and power; it’s soul.
      5: An attitude or feeling. It was said in a spirit of fun.
      6; Person 1; she was a bold spirit.
      7: An alcoholic liquor… usually used in pl.
      8: Capitalized: God in the form of a spirit in Christianity
      9: Spirits plural: A solution in alcohol spirits of camphor.
      10: Real meaning or intention, the spirit of the law.
      Why it does not, or why it is not always shown as a synonym, leading question?
